Umer Hameed is a criminal defence lawyer practicing in Ontario. He is highly motivated and extremely passionate about criminal law. Mr. Hameed zealously advocates for his clients and ensures that their rights are protected when facing the criminal justice system. He successfully completed his articles in criminal defence at a boutique firm in downtown Toronto under the supervision of a well-respected senior defence counsel. Mr. Hameed had the opportunity to work on the defence of serious and complex matters before the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice and appeals before the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Following his call to the bar, Mr. Hameed practiced criminal law as an associate at a prominent criminal defence firm in Toronto.
Mr. Hameed diligently works on every matter to ensure that a favourable result is achieved for the client. He closely looks through every piece of evidence to ensure that the client’s legal rights are protected and a proper defence is prepared whether the matter proceeds towards resolution or trial. Mr. Hameed represents clients charged with minor and serious offences including assault, sexual assault, impaired operation, drugs trafficking, conspiracy and importation. Mr. Hameed has been able to achieve favourable results and acquittals at trial thorough his advocacy, meticulous preparation and understanding of the principles of criminal law.
Mr. Hameed graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (First Class) Honours degree from the University of Birmingham in United Kingdom and a Master of Laws degree, specializing in Canadian Common Law from York University’s Osgoode Hall law School. Prior to studying law, Mr. Hameed graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with (Honours) and cum laude from York University.
